Contemporary Art 101 is a Members-only art history lecture series at the Art School. This spring, we are delighted to continue this wildly popular series with Dr. Kate Green, featuring eye-opening lectures on various topics in contemporary art since the 1990s.
Contemporary Art 101 is available in both a daytime and evening session. Both series start February 2. Space is limited!

CONTEMPORARY ART 101
Designed as a follow-up to the museum’s fall lecture series, this sequential course, led by art historian Dr. Kate Green, seeks to understand contemporary practice in the context of the past twenty-five years of artistic production. Sessions are organized around themes addressed by artists since the 1990s and their signal exhibitions.
Each class includes concise reading material as well as a printed list of images to take away.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Instructor Kate Green received her Ph.D. in art history from The University of Texas at Austin and her M.A. in Curatorial Studies from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College. As an art historian, she specializes in American art since 1960 and the history of exhibitions. She teaches art history at The University of Texas at Austin and has taught courses at Trinity University and Texas State University. As a curator, she specializes in contemporary art. She has worked at, among other institutions, MoMA PS 1 / MoMA, Dia Art Foundation, and Artpace, where she developed and oversaw that institution’s curatorial and education departments. Green writes about modern and contemporary art for Art in America, Artforum.com, and Modern Painters.
